Atopic dermatitis or eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed patches. It is common in children but can occur at any age and tends to flare periodically. Individuals with eczema are more prone to allergies, asthma, and hay fever. Symptoms include dry, itchy skin, swelling, thickened patches, and sometimes small bumps.
In Ayurveda, this condition resembles Vicharchika, which presents as red rashes, intense itching, bluish discoloration, and occasional discharge. Painful, dry, and moderate itching lesions may also appear depending on the severity of dosha involvement.
